What is Bio-identical hormone replacement or BHRT?

Bioidentical hormone replacement or BHRT is a therapy that utilizes a form of natural hormone therapy. These natural hormone therapies resemble the hormones, on a molecular level, with hormones found in our own bodies. Some of these hromones can be obtained through a prescription at a retail pharmacy but most come from a compounding pharmacy. The goal of these prescription medications is to obtain hormone balance by targeting specific hormones in the body. Our providers have been trained and certified by Biote Medical.

What is Biote Medical?

The primary goal of BioTE® Medical is to help balance hormones through bioidentical hormone replacement therapy using pellets. These pellets are inserted by one of our certified providers in the office. When it comes to bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) pellets, the BioTE® method of pellet therapy is the preferred choice among physicians.

When a patient decides to start the BioTE method of pellet therapy, they may receive as few as two subcutaneous pellet insertions per year—and any needed hormone will be readily available when the body requires it. The BHRT pellets that certified BioTE providers use may allow or the natural administration of the necessary hormones.

What can cause an imbalance in my hormones?

Many things can lead to hormone imbalance in men or women. The most basic factor that may affect hormones is diet. Other factors that affect hormone levels is consistent stress (emotional and physical stress), medications (birth control and opiates are 2 examples), a lack of physical activity, and genetics.

What are some symptoms of hormone imbalance?

Some commone symptoms include; PMS, painful intercourse, irregular menstrual cycles, chronic fatigue, low or depressed mood, anxiousness, and mood swings are very common symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Trouble thinking clearly, often called “brain fog,” may also indicate hormone imbalance. Irritability is also a frequently cited symptom.

How do you get started?

To enable us to provide you with a safe and effect BHRT/ pellet therapy, we request extensive lab work. The labwork is looking at current hormone levels and other indicators of a hormone imbalance. If you have not had labwork within 6 months, our providers will want to collect this bloodwork prior to an initial consultation. Go to our BOOK NOW link and schedule your labwork visit, first. Next steps, schedule your hormone consultation with Maria or Jane. Based on your initial consultation and a review of the blood panel, one of our certified BioTE providers will determine their candidacy for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
